Nosey Painting

The Nosey painting is a work in progress. I wanted to immortalize the little girla's favorite stuffed animal, Nosey. She sleeps with her every night and dresses her in various costumes constantly. It is going to be oil/casein on board. It will be my first stenciled painting with five stenciled, casein layers (two for spots).

Instructions

  1. gesso board (3 coats, sanded)
  2. Casein
    1. pink background with greys for Nosey
    2. 2:(1:.05:.05) = White:(Rose:CYM:Cerulean)
    3. 3.5:(1:.05:.05)
  3. Cut stencils
    1. base cat (5 value) (keep the base cat positive cutout for oil overlays)
    2. white patches (9.5 value)
    3. dark patches (7 value)
    4. spots (7.2 value)
  4. Oil
    1. Three variations of same pink used for background (same pink as above), plus straight CYM and cerulean (1:1 = White:Cerulean).
    2. tape down base cat positive stencil. Using double sided tape.

Color

  • pink background with greys for Nosey
